Fonte Grande de Alte, near the village that gives it its name, is a natural space of great beauty.

The area of great beauty with its natural pool of crystal clear water, much appreciated by visitors in the summer months, create an idyllic setting.

The space also has a pleasant picnic area, with tables and public grills, and a large leisure space, perfect for outdoor activities or simply to enjoy nature. Its equipped also with public bathrooms.

During the summer months the snack bar is open, serving drinks and snacks.

For centuries, the waters of the stream, supplied by Fonte Grande, served the village and the surrounding agricultural fields. The space was also a place of inspiration for several Portuguese poets and artists.

Every year, on the 1st of May, the Festas de Alte are celebrated here, which fill an already beautiful space with colour, music and entertainment.
